Hello gents Ash here from SouthEast America. I just wanted to say you guys are doing great. I really love the podcast. Wish you did more shows now that a certain Linux podcast will be going away. (cough LAS cough). Loved the recent Ubuntu Mate showcase! Keep up the great work.
Since we’re talking about Ubuntu Mate again and can get Martin’s attention here, has the upgrade process from 16.10 to 17.04 been tested if luks has been previously installed? Apparently this guy lost 15 years of work by simply upgrading (though…after a power outage) that apparently broke his luks partition: https://ubuntu-mate.community/t/upgrade-from-16-10-to-17-04-with-luks-already-installed-has-this-been-tested/12357 which obviously I have no idea is true.
Is this potential issue anywhere close on the radar before the release on the 13th?
Since commenting on this comment is probably a foregone conclusion in next week’s show, I’ll preface the discussion by saying this particular guy turned out to be an idiot by “forgetting” his password after upgrading. My upgrade, on another box I manage, turned out fine — it’s just that the amount of time needed to download/install new/existing packages could probably be better spent by backing up your home folding and nuke-n-paving for the new point release. I’ll be doing that from now on, probably save an hour doing so.
